Our beloved little hamster, Remmy, died May 30, 2009. Remmy was our third hamster. We lost Hamo when we lived in AZ (see his funeral here), and had to give away Yamo when we moved from AZ. Remmy died of natural causes.

I wrapped him in a white cloth and then we put him in a box. I made a headstone, and Nick wrote on Remmy’s ‘coffin.’ We buried our friend at the base of a tree in our backyard.
Mourners included the neighbors, who were dressed in swimwear, heading to the pool.
We sang a song and each said something we remembered about Remmy.
He was the fastest hamster we ever had, but if we ever lost him in the house, all we had to do was leave his cage open on the floor, and he’d come back.
I wish you could wear swimwear to every funeral.
