Midnight Twilight

Friday, November 21st, 2008

I invited myself to join a couple friends to the Midnight showing of Twilight. I’m intrusive that way:) We were so excited to see it, and wore our Twilight t-shirts. We thought people in the audience would be dressed like vampires and characters from the movie, but I think we were the most outrages ones there in our shirts (I got lots of stares going to the bathroom).

Twilight has been so hyped up and the three of us have read the books, so we had to see it. Actually, I only read the first one and the last one. The first one I loved, the last one I had to stomach through. Way too much unnecessary dialogue…dragged on forever and ever and most of it was cheesy and pointless.

Anyway, I had cleared my mind about the movie and was going to leave it to speak for itself. Here’s what it said to me: “Eh, not that great.” The lines were forced, the acting 50/50, and the makeup sucked. With their determination to make every scene a closeup, they needed to take the makeup (especially the eyeliner) off Edward and put it on Bella. And all that white makeup looked like the makeup I put on Gordon for Halloween. I never really felt the love-tension-obsession thing between the lead characters either–they just didn’t have chemistry together. Oh, and the ending was a huge letdown.

Really though, the most fun part about going to the midnight showing was being with the gals and acting like a teenager again. That was the best part about Twilight.

Men of Action

Friday, November 21st, 2008

The kids recently had a no school day during the week, and I wanted to get them out of the house. I especially wanted to get them away from the computers, so we grabbed some friends and went bowling. At the bowling alley here, they give you a free game for every ‘A’ on your report card. We’ve got lots of free games to use up.

About a week later Rob and I took them roller skating. The two youngest had never been skating before. The reactions were all over the board. Nick said he was bored the entire time and had his arms folded looking so, Ben went crazy and tried to do all sorts of stunts, Gordon just couldn’t get his balance to stay up and so hated it, and Ethan had fun hanging on the edge and going around and around reaching the painted numbers around the board.

I’m thinking my kids need more action in their lives so they don’t grow up to be computer chair potatoes.
