Ben & Ben

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

This was my costume when I had to do a school project on famous people. Yes, this is Ben writing, and so I thought of what to be and viola! an Idea hit me. I worked and worked on my project, but in the end, I got this. I was suprised when my teacher said that we would put this together and make a wax museum. I was shocked when she also said that we would be seen by nearly all the school! We stood still until someone pressed a fake button that we made and we would recite a speech that we would have to memorize. I made mine and was amused at all the people that liked my speech. And this is what I said: “Hello. My name is Ben Franklin. I help make the two treaties of the revolution and the Declaration of Independince, and the Consitution. I also made 5 inventions. They are: the Franklin stove, the long arm, the odometor, the lightning rod, and bifocals. I was born in 1706 and died in 1790, but it was said that more than 20,000 people attended my funeral.”

Night in Bethlehem

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Our ward held a “Night in Bethlehem” activity. They told us to dress in period attire, so I went to the Value Village and bought a few sheets and cut them up (no sewing involved). I was pretty proud of myself that we were all color-coordinated. Ethan put up a resistance at first on wearing the costume, but after bribing him with the battery-operated tea light, he relented. Gordon wanted to sleep in his costume. They were pretty cozy and warm.

We got a little coin purse with coins to buy our snacks and drinks from the market places, then sat on blankets in the gym. It was decorated so beautifully with all the walls covered with painted scenes and the ceiling draped with lights.

There were rooms set up for crafts and the bishopric, dressed up as the three kings, passed out toy jacob ladders to the kids. At the end of the night, each family got to take home a wooden manger that we are to fill with hay (raffia) each time someone does a good deed for someone else in the home. We had a great time.

Mooresville Parade

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Ben and I got to be in the city Christmas parade. Ben was on a float for Cub Scouts. It was really just a flat bed pulled by a tractor.
My friend and I do Jazzercise together and we got to dance our way down main street. It reminded me of doing the Rose parade every year in Portland, OR when I was on dance team. Only it was much harder–I must be getting old.

Alicia’s celebrity look-alikes

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

This is sort of freaky to see who else you look like, even though I don’t think I look like any of them. It was a fun experiment, but it changes depending on the picture you use. A different picture of me ended up choosing Paula Abule, Katherine Heigl, Emma Watson, Susan Lucci, Juliette Binoche, Rachel Weisz, and Haley Berry.

Rob’s celebrity look-alikes

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

I did a look-alike search for Rob and showed it to him. He was excited to see he looked like Batman (Adam West)and Mel Gibson. George Bush…well, not so much. When I did a celebrity look-alike search for Ben, he got George Bush as well…weird. Yehudi is a violinist I’ve never heard of until now.
