We just got back from North Carolina. We found a nice wooded lot to build our home in a beautiful neighborhood. The neighborhood has a lap and kiddie pool, tennis courts, a playground, and walking trails through the woods. Here’s a picture of our lot that eventually will have a house on it.
Here’s the ladies helping us out. Jacinda, our real estate agent, and Brandi, the sales person in the model home. Super nice girls, but then I guess they would be since they’re making a sale. They did put up with all are peculiarities though.
North Carolina is very green like Oregon, but without the rain. It’s much more humid than Tucson, but that just makes it feels like Hawaii. We’re tired of the desert and would like to explore the east side of the country. The kids are ready to go. They are tired of the heat and want seasons. Now we just have to sell our house. We’re going to try to sell it ourselves for a while. I just hate giving realtors all that commission.
Rob and I were so busy the week we were in North Carolina. We combed three cities looking for a house and used two realtors. We started looking in the city of Hickory, but ended up in Mooresville. I like Mooresville because it’s a smaller city, but only 30 minutes from Charlotte.
We also spent a day in Asheville at the Biltmore house. My cousin, Jill, and her husband, Sam, came from Georgia to be with us. We wished we had more time with them than just that day.
Here’s Rob and Sam running down the hill in front of the Biltmore house. This is the largest home in the United States (4 acres of floor space), built by George Vanderbilt in 1895. We went to the winery and sampled the grape juice (usually reserved for the kids), and explored the gardens. It was very fun. Especially without the kids–thanks to my parents who stayed with them the week we were gone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Alicia actually posted this, but used my account apparently.
